BBC SPORT | Boxing | Duddy poised for world title bout

BBC SPORT | Boxing | Duddy poised for world title boutMoving John Duddy down in weight class was a good idea for the Irish fighter with a big New York (and elsewhere) following. His new trainer, Ed Burns, is right in believing that Duddy's future is at light-middleweight. As far away from Kelly Pavlik as possible, I'd say, and that's just being realistic. Duddy doesn't have the size to match up with Pavlik, and that's only one of the problems he'd face.

I like the matchup with Verno Phillips at 154. And I wouldn't say that Duddy was ducking a beat-down from Pavlik. Taking a fight at 154 is the smart thing to do with Pavlik in the middleweight division. If it's "ducking", I'd do it, too. And so would you when you think about it...
